Here are some good practices that I find useful to bring into daily life, as they have helped me stay engaged with the world and try to make it better while also feel at peace (even with strong or unpleasant emotions or feelings) in the core of my being, most of the time... :)

Personal Boundary and Space- connect with Now

That is how I use my personal boundary to return to my space, to this present moment, a personal space of retreat. A retreat from the worries/ fears of the future, regret / shame from the past and the incessant chattering of mind.
Personal space and boundary as an anchor to the present. 🙏😊

Kindness

One kind gesture melts away fear and resentment. Some kind gestures are like hot chocolate on a winter night, instantly warming your every cells. Some are like steeping tea leaves in hot water, felt scalding at first but produced sweet aromas with time.

Kindness is not giving in to a bawling child or spoiling a kid. Kindness is not encouraging co-dependency that removes independence and autonomy. Kindness is in the act of teachers being strict with students to empower them to realise their full potential and challenge them to overcome their own fears and doubts. Kindness is not always easy but is doing something that is right and necessary for the situation.

Kindness is also a practice of healthy personal boundary and space in a sense that we allow others the space to experience life, grow and walk their own paths. When we are clear of our own personal boundary, we will not take on other's burdens as the latter is doing them a disservice, denying them the opportunity to learn. This does not mean we ignore them or let them be. We, grounded in our own presence and space, are then able to hold the space for others to go through the pain process, the pain of growing, the pain of learning - just like the pain of forming new muscles as tissues re-structure, break down and repair naturally. In this way, it is like being there for the person but not controlling how the person is at the moment. That said, there are times to let go even the need to be present. Just like when someone recover from a leg injury, he or she might need clutches for awhile but eventually, when the body is ready, the tissues need to get used to walking without leaning onto the clutches, and in the process, become stronger. Can you recall some instances where you are grateful for a kind gesture?

Can you recall some instances where you are the one giving the kind gesture?

I think there is a reason for us to call ourselves human kind...

Dance with Darkness

 Darkness used to scare me...

It was a setting that housed my worst fears...
It was daunting...
My body tensed
My mind ran wild

Then one day, I decided to face these fears, and befriend the darkness (and all that it encompasses),
Asking myself what is the worst that can happen?
So I invite my fears like an esteemed guest,
I waited... my body relaxed

And I see...
The side of darkness that I have never known...
I am awestruck...

 By the galaxies
By the potential
By the vastness

P.S. The irony is that when I get familiar (and comfortable) with unknowns, it is not as powerful or daunting as it seems to be (when I was running away from it)...
And I also realised that only when it is dark can we see the brilliance of the stars and the galaxies...

What is mindful eating?

Smell the food that you are going to eat.

If you are holding it, notice how it feels like between your fingers.

What is the texture like?

Take in the visual, colour and shape, all the details.

Be simultaneously aware of the sight, the texture, smell of it.

Allow yourself to salivate. It is a way to prepare our digestive system. It is also a way to enjoy the food that you are going to consume. No hurry.

Have a taste. Take a small bite or lick (if it is ice-cream). Is there a sound to it? Crunchy? Squishy? Springy? Does it feel warm, hot, cool or cold? Allow the first bite to spread and roll around your tongue. Chew slowly, enjoying the sensations and burst of flavours on your tongue. Notice how the flavours change with each bite. Allow the food to roll to different parts of the tongue which register different flavours... Enjoy the texture between your teeth and on your tongue... Does it melts in your mouth or does it feels moist and spongy... Allow the taste to dissolve into your saliva completely... Fully enjoying this bite with all your senses...

Tongue is the only place to enjoy the taste of the food we consume. The mouth not also register  flavours but the temperature, the texture, and opens to the chamber of the nose that register the smell.

Enjoy~

Slowly~

No hurry. Nothing else to do. No where to go. Just you and your food.

Who Am I ? Now.

All you have is this moment, now...

Here and Now is where you find who are...

Not your roles, not your thoughts, not your emotions, not your worries, not your labels, not your beliefs, not your conditioning, not the voice in your head, not the sensations in your body...
